What to know
The process of ordering donor sperm in Australia differs slightly from other countries due to local regulations. Here is what you need to know.

In Australia, rules for using donor sperm vary by state. That’s why you’ll need to select your place of treatment in our donor search. This ensures you only see donors who meet the legal requirements for your location. Once selected, you’ll get full access to detailed donor profiles including baby photos, adult portraits, personality insights, and family history.
Donor sperm availability is stronger in Queensland (QLD), with more limited options in New South Wales (NSW). South Australia (SA) and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) can be good options as well, but the number of available donors may be more variable in the ACT because some donors choose not to consent to ACT use.
In practice, clinics in New South Wales (NSW) have been advised to use donors with a worldwide family limit of 5 families only. This reduces the number of eligible donors right now. Legislative settings may change.
Oppositely, in Queensland (QLD), South Australia (SA), and Australian Capital Territory (ACT), donors with a worldwide family limit of up to 35 families can be used which gives you a wider choice, especially in QLD.

To ensure compliance and responsible donor use, European Sperm Bank offers donors with different worldwide family limits for treatment in Australia such as Family1, Family5, and Family25.
In contrary to some other sperm banks that are less strict, our family limits are worldwide giving you the opportunity to pick highly exclusive sperm donors. A Family5 may be used for five families worldwide, whereas Family1 means that the sperm donor is only used for one family worldwide.
The selection available varies by state, depending on local legislation. Regardless of a donor’s worldwide Family Limit, we always ensure full compliance with both Australian national and state-specific rules and family limits.
To manage these limits, we use a Pregnancy Slot system, which secures your right to use a donor both for your first child and for potential future siblings.
To place a compliant donor sperm order, you should follow these steps to make sure that state rules are taken into account.

Donors approved for treatment in Australia follow a dedicated pricing structure, reflecting their exclusivity and the tailored donor screening process.
European Sperm Bank sperm donor profiles come from diverse backgrounds and represent a wide range of personality types. Donor profiles can include physical features such as height, eye colour, and skin tone, plus personal history such as education, hobbies, and personality insights. Many profiles include childhood photos, audio interviews, and family medical history information to support a well-informed decision.
