YOU GIVE SOMETHING MEANINGFUL – AND GET SOMETHING IN RETURN

Becoming a sperm donor can be a rewarding experience in many ways. You’ll receive compensation for your time, learn more about your health and receive different benefits. And at the same time, you'll feel good knowing that you're making a difference to those who can’t have a family on their own.

HERE’S WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU:

  • Health check: You’ll get a free, thorough health check, a genetic analysis and regular STD screening.
  • Free fitness: You’ll get a free membership to PureGym if you donate regularly.
  • A crucial difference: You can help women and couples around the world to have a child.

Our Refer a Friend programme

We value when our donors refer friends to become donors at European Sperm Bank. When a friend visits us for the first time, he informs us that he has been referred. The only thing he needs to provide is the phone number of the friend referring him.

Once he has completed all samples required to determine his sperm quality, the donor will receive 2,000 DKK. This can be 1-4 samples. If the friend is not approved as a donor, the donor will still receive a referral bonus.

Our donors can refer up to two friends per month.

How to get started

Follow this link and book an appointment whenever it fits you.

When you visit us for the first time, remember to mention that you’ve been referred by a friend and provide us with his phone number

You’ll make a sperm sample at your first visit. If your sperm quality is approved, we will invite you to the next steps.

MEET ONE OF OUR DONORS

Some women and couples cannot have children without help. They need people like you, who choose to make a difference, to start a family.

In this video, you will hear why one of our donors decided to become a sperm donor, what the experience has meant to him, and why it is one of the most rewarding things he has ever done.

Sperm donation is all about doing something meaningful for someone you’ll never meet, but who will never forget that it was someone like you who made it possible.

If you can, help those who can’t

Becoming a sperm donor is a powerful way to make a difference. Every donation has the potential to help others create the family they’ve always wanted.

More and more children around the world are born thanks to fertility treatment. Many of them with the help from a sperm donor.

But only 5–7% of those who apply are approved as donors. That means we need more people who have what it takes — people who see the value in giving others the chance to build the family they’ve always dreamed of.

FAQ

To become a sperm donor at European Sperm Bank, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be between 18-45 years old
  • Live in Denmark
  • Haven’t been donating at another sperm bank
  • Have good sperm quality

Of all sperm banks, we have the most donor locations in Copenhagen. You can donate in one of our Copenhagen departments (København N, København K, Islands Brygge), in Lyngby, Aarhus and Aalborg.

At European Sperm Bank, you can only become an ID release donor (previously known as an ‘open donor’). As an ID release donor, we may share personally identifiable information about you with individuals conceived with your sperm if they request it. The specific age at which this can happen depends on the country’s legislation, but in Denmark it’s when the person turns 18. Learn more about becoming an ID release donor.

Once you have been accepted as a donor, you’ll get DKK 300 per approved donation. For each approved donation, 200 DKK will be transferred to your bank account once a week and the remaining 100 DKK is paid out roughly once every three months; this is dependent on your routine blood and urine tests showing that you have no sexually transmitted diseases.

On top of these amounts, you also get financial compensation for all your blood tests. The compensation is regulated by law.

If you’ve not had any sexually transmitted diseases for a whole year and have donated frequently, you’ll be eligible to receive an average of 6,500 DKK per month in compensation. This includes a free Fitness World membership (worth 300 DKK per month), which is activated as soon as you qualify.
