Becoming a sperm donor
The application process
1. Application
Start by filling in our online application form. Choose a date and time for your first visit. Your sperm sample will be analysed, and if your sperm quality is high enough, we will invite you to the next step.
2. Interview
You will meet with our donor coordinator to discuss your family history, to rule out any serious hereditary disorders. You will also be provided with further information about what it means to be a sperm donor.
3. Health check & counselling
You will have a physical examination with one of our doctors. You will be offered a counselling session with our counsellor. A blood and urine sample will then be taken and the results analysed by our geneticist. You will be compensated for the physical examination.
4. Profile review & donor approval
The last step is a profile review. We will finalise your profile and record an audio interview. Following successful completion of this stage, you will be approved as a qualified donor. At this step, you will also be compensated.

Personal and contact information
A sperm donor's experience
“It’s routine for me now – I donate about once a week. It takes about 15 minutes from when I enter the building to when I leave again.”
Becoming a donor
Your first visit
On your first visit to our sperm bank, simply turn up at the clinic and identify yourself at the reception (please bring ID). We will ask you how many hours it has been since your last ejaculation. It must be between 48 and 72 hours.
You will then receive a cup and be shown to a room, where you will deposit your sample. When finished, just leave your sample at the reception desk.
Within a week, you will receive an email telling you if your sperm count is good enough to become a donor. If so, you can continue with the donation process.

According to UK-law, you cannot donate sperm anonymously. However, only children conceived as a result of your sperm will be allowed to contact you when they reach the legal age of 18. European Sperm Bank will also know your identity.
You can donate at our Holborn clinic in central London, a 5-minute walk from Chancery Lane underground station.
We ask you to donate at least four times per month.
A donor can be compensated up to £490 per month. Following our initial screening tests, you will be compensated £35 for each clinic visit, in line with HFEA regulations. You will be compensated in two parts; £20 upfront when you produce your sample, and the remaining £15 following routine 3 monthly STI screening. Read more about being a sperm donor.
